So I've noticed it's September already: back to school, new routines, and new living accommodations. My last post was in early August, and renovations have been moving steadily along. Our summer was OK, all things considered. The highlight for me was our little late summer escape. We technically had nowhere to live for the last three weeks of summer, so we flew off to Victoria to be taken care of by Granny and Pappy. It was what we all needed: a break from decision making (for the most part), beautiful hikes, happy hour on the balcony, bike rides, beautiful landscape, sunny skies, pool outings, blackberry harvesting. I loved it. We flew home, spent a night in a hotel, then repacked (poorly) for a week at the Fast cottage. This was also a treat: cousin time, enjoying the beach, bonfires, Grandma's cooking, an outing to the zoo. (You'll have to imagine this part of summer, because I can't quite get it together to post some photo highlights - sorry)
And now we have been generously taken in by Dave and Teri, whose basement has turned into our dormitory until we move home. Yes, home. We are hoping that we will be able to return by Hallowe'en, so keep you fingers crossed. We have hardwood floors now, and trim, and the beginning of a kitchen! The garage has also grown off the side of our house, with siding and doors to arrive later. There is still a tonne of painting to be done. Paul creeps off each evening to paint, and returns home late in the night. Yes, we're tired, we're eager to be home, but we see the end in sight.
